As of midnight last night, submissions closed for our “Romance Gone Wrong” issue. We received a record-breaking amount of work, so thanks to everyone who submitted for this issue! Montana Mouthful continues to gain interest and followers, and we thank everyone who reads, submits, and […]
Montana Mouthful seeks short fiction/nonfiction, poetry, and artwork for its next issue, and this time the theme is “Romance Gone Wrong.” Most of us have been there before; we’re into a new romance, things are going well, then suddenly everything changes. There’s betrayal, an accident, […]
We’re pleased to announce that our latest issue of Montana Mouthful is live! This issue is full of stories, poems, and artwork that have some connection to the idea of “schooling.” Once again, the editors were blown away by the variations on the theme. We hope you take the time to enjoy this beautiful issue.
Where can you find it? Click here to find links to our ISSUU site, where you can read the issue online for free, and to our MagCloud site, where you can purchase digital and print-on-demand copies.
Thanks to everyone who contributed such fine stories, poems, and artwork for the issue, and thank you, Readers, for continuing to support us.
Submissions are pouring in for our “Schooling” issue; however, we are extending the deadline to September 2, 2019. We are especially in need of more artwork for the issue, so please spread the word to the artists out there! We look forward to publishing our […]
Hello Montana Mouthful community! In Helena, we’re welcoming warm weather after a rather cool spring, but behind the scenes, things have been heating up since we received our 501(c)3 nonprofit status. We’ve been pulling together ideas for fundraisers, events, and workshops, so we can continue […]
Classes might be out for summer, but Montana Mouthful is open for submissions for our fifth issue, and the theme is “schooling” (or some variation on “school”). Of course, with such a theme, we expect to receive stories, poems, and images about formal education, ranging from elementary school to the post graduate level. However, some of the best “schooling” is dished out in circumstances far removed from the classroom. Perhaps you were “schooled” by a job, a best friend, or any number of unexpected situations. Let your imagination run wild. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Submissions are open from June 16, 2019 – August 12, 2019. We aim to publish the “Schooling” Issue on September 23, 2019, when the majority of folks are in “back to school” mode. Please review our submission guidelines carefully. We do not accept any prose over 2,000 words nor poetry over 1,000 words.
Submissions are read and judged blindly, so please DO NOT put your name on the piece itself.
You are encouraged to submit a short biography. Bios must be written in third person and should be no longer than 3-5 sentences. You are also encouraged to share your personal websites and/or social media pages, so we can help promote your work.
