Montana Mouthful Seeks Submissions for Issue 4
We hope everyone had a restful holiday season and a Happy New Year! The staff of Montana Mouthful took a much needed break during the end of 2018, but now we’re back and seeking submissions for our fourth issue, which is scheduled for publication on April 29, 2019.
The theme for Issue 4 is “clowning around.” This idiom means to joke, play, or act in a silly way. We can’t wait to see all the variations on the theme, and we anticipate some actual clowns – the red nose variety – in the mix. However, be sure your piece builds toward something more than a punch line. We seek strong stories, not anecdotes. For instance, perhaps a character’s antics ends up in tragedy for another. Etc.
Submissions are open from January 3, 2019 – February 13, 2019. Please review our submission guidelines carefully. We do not accept any prose over 2,000 words nor poetry over 1,000 words.
Submissions are read and judged blindly, so please DO NOT put your name on the piece itself.
You are encouraged to submit a short biography. Bios must be written in third person and should be no longer than 3-5 sentences. You are also encouraged to share your personal websites and/or social media sites in your biography, so we can help promote your work.
Good luck from the Montana Mouthful team!
